Abstract

The article presents methodological solutions related to the planning and implementation of a survey of language editors in Lithuania. The study intended to conduct a representative quantitative survey of language editors working with texts of public usage of the standard Lithuanian language. However, the population of language editors in Lithuania is not defined, and there are no sources that would systematically provide the information needed to determine this population; also, there are no studies that have attempted to identify such a population. The article reveals the attempts to define the size of the population of language editors in Lithuania, the difficulties encountered during the search for language editors, and the assumptions about the characteristics of the language editors in Lithuania that can be derived from the survey data (specifically, from the descriptive analysis of the responses to the questions about the characteristics of language editors and their work).
